The attack of the unrelated images
Why is so difficult to have order with all the images that are saved into our computers?
Really, i can’t understand. I know that i’m not the only one with this problem, even the “cleanest” user has downloaded an image in a folder where that images does not “belong” and leaved it there at least for a couple of days. Doesn’t matter if you have lots of folders and, proportionally, lots of categories for your images, momentaneous laziness is momentanous laziness and is strong enough to make you think “It’s ok” or “I’ll organize it tomorrow/some other day” etc, etc. And maybe it is ok, maybe you’re one of that really organized users and you will put that image in the correct place for the order’s sake, but you could be like me, and there is when the problem begins.
That kind of thoughts like “I’ll organize it tomorrow/some other day” can lead you to create a whole new collection of images where is not supposed to be, i.e.: your “My images” folder is in total order, but for a moment you were lazy, or you were in a hurry or any other reason, and you prefered to save certain image in “My documents” folder, and almost unconciously you start to make an habit of it until someday you notice that there are way too much images in that folder, and not only that, all those images are from different “classifications”, and they’re so much that just seeing them gives you a feeling of laziness, then you say “Ahem… “i’ll organize it tommorrow, this time for real” but you didn’t do it, so, that images are still there, and you’re now in a vicious circle.
Let’s suppose that you didn’t do this just once, but with other 3 or 4 folders more, now, multiply x quantity of images you usually save… if they are a lot… my friend: be strong.
That is my current state. Now i have this friggin’ mess and it’s quite difficult to put some order. However, i’ll start to reorganize, i’m a do this thing, i’ll do it because is enough already. I know, it’s easier said than done (a lot, indeed) but the solution is not that hard to achieve, in fact, i think is very easy too. One just have to want it (for real).
If someone out theres wants a tip, kind of advice, to avoid this kind of problem:
1.- Do not put images where they don’t belong. Having a lot of folders is part of the problem, indeed, but is better to fill them with the right stuff
2.- DO NOT PUT IMAGES WHERE THEY DON’T BELONG. Seriously, don’t.
3.- Try to always search the exact folder for that image to be saved. Do not save it in other folder, not even for minutes –that could be the begining–
5.- If you’re having/close to having this problem with other types of archives, just apply the same.
4.- If you’re a nice, clean, organized user… why are you reading this tips??
In the far, far possibility that you’re actually comfortable with having your computer just like i imagine your room (like a disaster zone), it’s simple; Do nothing. Living in peace with one’s own disorder is fine too. Very “hippie”.
My case is different, though.I don’t like dissorder… but i can let it be if it’s a… hmm… “ordered disorder”, of course, sometimes grows too much and the ordered disorder turns into disorder alone, into a mess, and there can get even worse, but anyway, i think you got the point now.
And yes, i’m aware that it is related to being so lazy kthx.
