Look me in the eyes when you talk

Category: Manga

Genre: Horror

This one-shot by Iwaaki Hitoshi is, in my opinion, for all of those who like their horror-manga share not so “rough”.

One unlucky day, a guy who never looks people in the eyes gets a beating from a bunch of suckers thugs who claim that he was watching them — Pathetic and ironic excuse, yes, but they kicked his ass anyway and sent him to the hospital. When he wakes up he totally freaks out because, for his horror, he can’t see people’s eyes, literally.

I’m aware that what doesn’t really scare one person could make another one shit some serious bricks, but I think you can sleep after reading this… If not, well, it’s not my fault. The history is as simple as you read above, but it’s good enough for a good horror one-shot, I also liked that it takes a pretty common fear and turns it into something to be really scared of.

By the way, if you happen to be curious and want to read it, there’s no gory stuff here so if you don’t like to see severed limbs and things like that you can relax. I dind’t put any more images because it seems easy to fall on spoilers.

Hourou Musuko: “I want to be the little girl”

Category: Manga

Genre: Slices of life, Drama, Seinen

Hourou Musuko is the history of a 5th grade boy, Shûichi Nitori, who has always been quite femenine (no he’s not gay :V just girlish), so much that the first day in a new school he’s mistaken for his 6th grade sister -YA RLY. After that, he’s taken to his classroom and ends up sittin next to this boyish girl, Yoshino Takatsuki, better known as “Takatsuki-kun”, who becomes his best friend. It’s at this moment when the real plot starts developing.

The… Interests… Of Shuichi in femenine stuff are starting to go to a new level. Yes, he likes to bake and it’s quiet and girly, but from time to time… He starts to want to look like a girl, and he’s got enough “help” to make it happen -not only that, he’s even got crossdressing partners- but it won’t be that easy and many things will take place.

Wanna know more about it? I’d spoil you, but I think you’d like to read that for yourself. This manga is a good read. Takako Shimura did a great job with the history -plus that simple, yet fluid and appealing style of drawing is great- I mean, ¿little kids with such problems at that age? I think is more likely than you think, and not only with this topic but that’s another history. It would be a lot easier for Shuu-chan and Takatsuki-kun if there wasn’t a whole social situation in their way (and we aren’t even talking about homosexuality here, go figure), but there is, and it’s very troubling for kids like them, that’s why the manga is pretty much focussed on the characters’ feelings. Of course, not all is drama and confusion, after all, it’s a heartwarming slices-of-life, and there’s plenty of room for funny stuff (Shuuichi’s sister can be a hilarious damn brat).

So, we meet again…

Does anybody really care when i disappear for months? Seriously.

I don’t really think so and, being honest, that’s kind of a relief. Anyway, i’m still reading some mangas, and I want to talk about them, I want to blog more often and make up for my lazy behaviour. Just for you, all my nice readers (yes, the two of you). Stay tunned, i’ll get to work.

And now for something completely different…

Yesterday I had just like, 75 MB of free space on the main partition of my hard drive! wtf!? and I thought I wasn’t downloading so much crap anymore.

Animeblogger needs YOU

Category: News

*Ahem…* (slowpoke.jpg)

AnimeBlogger.net has always been supportive of new writers all over the world to establish their blog for free. As we continue to expand and include new bloggers to the anime blogosphere, we have reached a point where advertising dollars are not enough to pay for the hosting services.

Hence, we have decided to appeal for donations to cover the taxes and hosting fees of AnimeBlogger.net. The first goal is to raise US$1600 to cover three months of hosting and the taxes applicable to AnimeBlogger.net. When we have secured that amount, we are looking into adding another server in order to accommodate more writers, which is where the second goal comes in. If we reach our second goal of US$2200, we’ll be able to add another server.

If you are wondering how you can donate to us, there are various ways. First, you can directly donate to the site via Amazon or Paypal from our donations page. Second, you can buy AnimeBlogger.net merchandise. As an incentive to those who donate, everyone who donates more than $5 will be entered to win a prize. Currently we have a sponsor that’s paying for two AnimeBlogger.net shirts for winners. You can also contribute any anime-related items as prizes for the lucky draw.

AnimeBlogger.net needs your help. Everyone is integral to the support of AnimeBlogger.net. Every little bit counts to hit our target, be it $1 or $100. You will make a difference. Thank you and please continue to explore our anime blogging community!

Still ongoing folks!

Goth

Category: Manga

Genre: Horror, Mistery, Psychological

Based on a novel by Otsu-ichi (Hirotaka Adachi) and adapted to manga by Kenji Oiwa (Welcome to the N.H.K.), this “horror” manga tell us the history of two highschool students, Itsuki Kamiyama and Yoru Morino, who have this particular interest (more like fixation) in strange cases of murder going around their neighborhood, and usually, they end up getting involved while investigating. Not that they don’t like it.

I totally enjoyed reading this short manga, its constant atmosphere of slight mystery and suspense progressively evolving combined with all the weirdness surounding the main characters and their fascination for murders, murderers and investigation is higly atractive to me. Can’t help, i like weird stuff and never get bored of it.

Also, contrary to what one would normally see, these two have got no interest in doing “the right thing”, they search no justice, they do it just because of their “morbid” likes, however, the history has a bit more to it than that. It’s a simple history with an interesting twist, very well drawn and entertaining indeed.

So, don’t get fooled by the tittle (in a post-script Otsuichi tries to explain what does it mean, but it isn’t really conclusive -I can understand why, it’s not easy with such a wide concept-), it’s worth a read

By the way, it has some extremely graphic content. You are warned, though I think that’s why it’s labeled as “horror”.

New face: Complete!

Category: News

Even though I don’t really know about CSS and PHP stuff, I managed to fix a little problem I was having with the new theme for the blog, now it’s done and looks just as I wanted -even if it’s not properly done, as long as I have no problems it’s ok . To commemorate the new look, how about a little review? like the idea? well, here we go.

Back in the business?

Category: News

Well, here i am again!

I’m not going to tell you what has been of my life in such a long period of time because it would take a lot, a whole lot of time and space.

Let’s just say that I have been living life, working on some proyects (mainly in the musical territory) and well, many changes. Lots of excesses. My computer still sucks, btw.

I haven’t watched anime in a looong time, which is kind of a shame because there were some interesting things here and there that I would like to watch but I think i’m just going to watch them when I feel like it.

It’s weird but I can’t say the same about reading manga, have been reading some and found them quite good.

Kodomo no Jikan OVA

Category: Anime, Manga

Too much of a coincidence? quite really, but just found it without searching (pretty weird, indeed) and watched it, so, here’s what i got to say.

It isn’t placed on the begining of the history, and that, to me, was a good idea, don’t know if there’ll be more to come (seems very possible though), but at any rate, I can see that it was well planned, they sure did a good work (inteligent team is inteligent), I mean, there’s no way to flame that OVA. Sure, it has the obligatory fan service but nothing to go nuts about, really. Also, good quality.

Some more info:

- Kuro-chan is less annoying than she normally is in the manga [+1]
- Reiji is less freak and more of an “average bishounen” (is not that you can actually tell that he’s a freak just by looking at him anyway)
- Aoki sensei is the friggin’ same, he’s just like in the manga. [+1]
- Rin too. Well done. [+1]
- Mimi-chan roolz
- Houin sensei’s cameo was great. Yes it was. [+1]
- After watching this, if you are not reading the manga, you may want to.

Let’s call it a good job. I wasn’t specting less.

No need for a fuzz ¿see, see?

And now, more screencaps of Kuro chan, Kokonoe Rin, Mimi chan and… Aoki sensei and Reiji (may take a while to load?). Enjoy.

Kodomo no Jikan? In my animu?

Category: News, Anime, Manga

Well, well, well… I haven’t posted much lately for reasons that I’ve already sort-of-explained, but i can’t just let this issue going without me saying something, like this entry can tell you, I’m into this but not for the loli factor, nor for all the bloodly drama around it (you know… but if you don’t, in short: so-called ‘normal, moral people’ (sic) saying: “ZOMG MY EYES!! BURN IN HELL YOU, PEDOPHILES!” and, in the other hand, loli lovers and some perverts saying: “NO,U! KnJ FTW!!“) heck, it isn’t even for being a huge tard of Kodomo no Jikan, the only position I have is that I like the darn history (of course, there are things that i would change, but that’s normal) , but before you take my precious person for a foe and start throwing tomatoes and yelling ’sick pervert!’ at me, just keep reading.
